ABOUT US

Noca Project is the brainchild of Japanese singer-songwriter Norika Yue, drummer Jeff Oman, and bassist Malcolm Strasdin. In 2018, Yue proclaimed to the skies… and his mother on the phone ”I’m going to move the countryside, make a farmhouse and pursue a simple life”.

While it started as a solo endeavor, in late 2019 Noca Project added two more members: Jeff Oman and Malcolm Strasdin to form the current line-up, borrowing sounds from folk, to an eclectic blend of jazz, shoegaze, ambient, emo, punk and pop influences.

Noca Project (noca meaning “farmhouse” or “countryside” in Japanese) was born as an expression of desire for a simple pursuit of creativity. The project is starting to reveal that the beauty in simplicity isn’t attached to places, but the people that nurture it.
